Note: We received the Kenwood Rosé of Pinot Noir as a sample.
Kenwood Rosé
In April we wrote about the Kenwood Pinot. Now we had a chance to taste a rosé made from the same variety.
The label states that the wine comes from the Sonoma Coast. However, notes from the winery provide a more specific location. Harvest was September 6th 2018 from a vineyard in Russian River. The wine was aged and fermented in stainless steel. Production was 350 cases.
Kenwood Rosé Tasting
The wine was a vibrant salmon colour in the glass. Aromas of strawberry, white peach, and flint wafted up from the glass.
The flavours were subtle, but with an intriguing complexity. Strawberry and a juicy melon gave way to crisp green apple in the mid-palate. The acidity seemed to shift from apple to citrus in the finish in which minerality emerged.
Summary
This wine strikes an excellence balance between an approachable sip for a summer afternoon and a carefully crafted complexity. The wine is available exclusively at the Kenwood Winery. The wine price is $22.
