Introduction to Bass Note Sangria

Sometimes I get unusual samples of products that I accept due to curiosity. Bass Note Blackberry Sage Artisanal Sangria falls into that category. First of all, I have never had a bottled sangria that I have liked before.  Secondly, the combination of blackberry and sage and wine made me a little skeptical. Lastly, bottled artisanal? Hmmm…

The view from our house and lake in the back garden. I often sit out there and relax.. just enjoying the sky and the water.

Dear reader, I am brave and I tried this product so that I could tell you all about it. I just hate wasting my money on stuff that doesn’t taste good, don’t you?  Well, slap my thigh and call me Delila but this stuff is tasty. It has all of the components of a gourmet sangria that you could want.  The flavors of blackberry are in the forefront with just a wisp of sage for interest. It’s lightly sweet and very fruity. I could see me serving this out on our patio by the lake to friends. Just add fresh blackberries and a fresh leaf of sage to garnish and serve over ice. No one will be able to tell it isn’t homemade.

Beautiful fresh blackberries – garnish the sangria glass with the fruit and a simple sage leaf (not shown)

Serve chilled for the best flavor

What did I do with it really? I drank it myself, turning on my audiobook and relaxed enjoying this light and refreshing drink as an aperitif. I did give David a little to try but I mostly hogged it all to myself. At 11% alcohol, I didn’t feel like I was overindulging drinking a few glasses.

Looking at the pairing notes it says this sangria will go with barbecue or steak. I made up a mini tapas plate with Spanish style meatballs, cheeses, vegetable roti, and teriyaki chicken drummettes. The savoriness of the dishes and the sweet/salty of the teriyaki sauce really made this beverage pop.

Bass Note Sangria Value for Price

$14.99 is a fair price for the quality. I didn’t feel like the flavors were fake tasting nor did it have horrible aftertastes.  It was simply smooth and sweet in all of the ways you’d want sangria to be.
